Issues & Platform

As a representative of the 5th Ward to Common Council, Deb will:

  • Remain informed on issues
  • Identify and articulate 5th Ward concerns
  • Serve as a resource and advocate for residents
  • Attend community events, meetings, and informal gatherings
  • Advocate for sound and efficient decision making and leadership in local government
  • Be accountable and ethical in her actions

The issues that concern her are:

Safety & Crime - Our neighborhood has recently reported incidents of violence, theft, vandalism, and questionable door-to-door solicitation. Ensuring safe neighborhoods throughout the city will be a top priority for Deb.

Deb believes that we need comprehensive solutions, combining targeted enforcement from local police and community prevention programs, and will work to implement actionable steps to reduce these incidents.

Development - Whether it be the Ithaca Gun Shop site or the new Aurora Street Dwelling Circle, Deb will aim for a balance between growth for our community and the maintenance of the neighborhood's character. Deb is also in full support of green development and sustainable initiatives, and will work to identify fiscally responsible ways to encourage this in our city.

Fall Creek Pictures, seen here, recently closed its doors when the Cinemopolis Theater opened in a new space downtown.

Responsible Use of Tax Dollars - Deb will ensure that the city is effective and efficient with its resources. She is also prepared to make the tough decisions that will prioritize the city's many needs and wants and will ensure that tax dollars are being spent on programs with a proven impact to the community.

Quality of Life - Deb believes that it's the "little things" that make our city an excellent place to live, work, and play. Issues like repairing potholes, revitalizing Stewart Park, protecting the public golf course, completing the Waterfront Trail, and providing Fall Creek TCAT access are vital to maintaining a high quality of life in our neighborhood.

Deb wants you to know that she will take even the smallest resident concern seriously. She'll work to bring your questions and issues to city government and ensure that your voice is heard.
